 INFO

Our research and surveys have revealed that the Beijing Art Expo holds a distinct position compared to typical art fairs. It is advised by the Beijing State-owned Cultural Assets Management Center and sponsored by both the Beijing Cultural Creation Painting Academy and the Foundation of the Beijing International Art Exposition. This organizational structure means that the Beijing Art Expo is not entirely commercially driven but is guided and managed to some extent by official bodies, which is relatively rare in the art fair industry. While many art fairs, even those sponsored by government cultural departments, are commercial in nature, Beijing Art Expo’s approach is more public-oriented.

The transparency of the Beijing Art Expo is also noteworthy; for instance, booth prices are openly available on its social media and official website, which is uncommon for most art fairs that typically do not disclose detailed pricing publicly. Additionally, the overall exhibitor style at the expo is quite accessible, featuring more decorative arts, traditional Chinese ink paintings, and calligraphy. This type of artwork is less commonly seen in other regions like Shanghai and Hong Kong, explaining why the expo, despite its longevity, has not attracted the more famous local Chinese galleries or international galleries.

The expo’s approachability has been noted by industry insiders who commend it not for the high academic stature of its exhibits or the fame of its galleries but for its accessibility to both professionals and amateurs alike. It has been said, "One does not necessarily find the artwork they love, but the visit is never in vain." This highlights the expo’s role in serving as an accessible platform, providing essential services to exhibitors and visitors alike. The low entry threshold allows diverse exhibitors to participate, which contributes to the variety and richness of the artworks displayed.

This inclusive nature is what makes the Beijing Art Expo a unique showcase, presenting art that the public can relate to and appreciate, without solely chasing depth and a serious attitude in art. Such diversity underscores the expo's ability to represent a wide spectrum of artistic expressions, making art accessible and engaging for a broader audience.
