In last year’s edition, Photofair Shanghai welcomed a total of 16,000 visitors, marking a significant engagement with the photography art community. Across major media outlets and social media platforms, the fair generated a staggering 17,500 posts related to the event. In a noteworthy collaboration with Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, the fair achieved an impressive milestone by creating over 45 million views for the hashtag #影像上海2023, highlighting the event's widespread appeal and digital reach.
Furthermore, the fair's curated "Dialogues" segment offered ten varied thematic lectures both on-site and online, delving into specific issues and phenomena within the local and international photographic art ecosystem. These discussions, planned and organized by the fair's curatorial team, attracted significant attention. Official video accounts of the fair, alongside broadcasts on Douyin and the Yitiao platform, garnered over 700,000 views for the lecture live streams. This multifaceted approach not only amplified the fair's impact but also fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation of photographic art among a broad audience

Compared to other art fairs in Shanghai, Photofair operates on a relatively smaller scale, which aligns with the niche nature of photography collecting. While Photofair has maintained a stable size, the 2023 edition saw a noticeable contraction in scale. However, with the conclusion of the pandemic, the 2024 edition is set to welcome a larger number of galleries participating, indicating a rejuvenated interest and expansion in the photography art scene as the world transitions into post-pandemic recovery.
